Below you’ll find a a description on of the typical collaborative/planning process you can expect, followed by a listing of service options/pricing, and rounded off with some frequently asked questions. However, these are just examples, and I will strive to create the right ceremony and situation for you!
After you reach out to me and deposit 50% in order to reserve your date, I will ask to schedule a private consultation with you and your partner, with two goals: the first is to gain clarity on important planning details, and the second is to gain an understanding and familiarity with your unique story And wishes for the service. This conversation typically lasts about an hour, can be done in person or over video chat, and will allow me to begin composing your individualized celebration.
I always plan to check in on you at regular intervals leading up to the wedding day: one month ahead of time, then one week, and then the day before either the wedding/rehearsal. This is to assure you of my commitment and offer reassurance that you have one less thing to stress out about! I may also ask follow-up questions from time to time, related to what we discussed in our first conversation. In the meantime, I will have constructed your ceremony and will be rehearsing it on my own.
Depending on your scheduling needs, I will show up to the rehearsal or Big Day early and absolutely ready to roll! This is the culmination of all your hard work preparing, and my work creating something special for you to enjoy, and I leave every ceremony glowing from the power of love. The remaining balance for my services is due at this time, so you won’t have to worry about remembering any leftover tasks on your honeymoon.
This includes the process of interviewing the couple, developing the ceremony, and attendance on the big day!
It is an additional $200 per each separate rehearsal you require me to attend, due to the additional dates I must reserve. I am very happy to assist you in the practice of your ceremony.
In the past, this has included options such as sand ceremonies, “jumping the broom,” and other unique or cultural traditions you wish to add!
This deposit is required in order to secure the date in advance. My schedule fills up pretty quickly!
I service within a 100-mile range of my home outside of Traverse City, MI; if a hotel is needed due to distance, payment of hotel would be required. I am also happy to negotiate longer-distance travel costs on a case-by-case basis.
I make a point to arrive early and be prepared; I know you’d want the same if our positions were switched!
I have been known to fully perform my services in pouring rain and heavy snow, so it’s no issue! However, I would negotiate an additional fee for a cancellation/rescheduling due to inclement weather if a delay is requested by the couple.
You get the marriage license from your county clerk; it’s good for 30 days. You bring it to the ceremony and give it to me beforehand, and then sign it afterwards, with two required witnesses (I can occasionally provide one). When it is signed, I mail the appropriate copies to the county clerk.
Yes! I am happy to provide any of these ceremonies to celebrate a couple’s love and journey together.
I originally began officiating because I was tailoring wedding gowns for brides (helping to refit mom’s old gown to you, or fixing emergencies like broken zippers day-of). I am an experienced and artistic tailor, and still love helping out this way. If you’re interested in these “secret services,” please reach out!
